So when the closure of Middle Eastern airspace threatened their operational schedules, our team stepped in to coordinate four jobs transporting a range of iron and steel fasteners. This included screws, bolts, nuts, rivets, cotter pins and washers.
Speed was of the essence, so we used a combination of road transport and air freight to collect the shipment from Tainan, Taiwan, and complete the final delivery into Saint Cosme en Vairais, France.
Effective coordination
The main challenge on jobs like this is coordinating the shipment at origin. This involves securing a reliable air agent, planning the loading, and building a flight plan that meets the customer’s timing and budget requirements. This was put under further pressure by the imminent closure of airspace due to war.
During one shipment, a temporary airspace disruption resulted in a flight delay. However, proactive planning and continuous communication helped protect the delivery schedule. This included engaging with an agent in Taiwan which opened up an alternative air freight route.
Alongside finding the best available route, disciplined follow-up and frequent coordination with our Taiwan agent also helped the team find the most cost-effective fare. This ensured shipments could be delivered on time and within budget.
