Delivering time-critical parts to keep a major low-cost airline in the air
When an aircraft is grounded, the costs and problems increase by the hour. Displaced passengers and knock-on delays across a schedule mean the financial impact adds up quickly. It can also incur huge costs to the reputation of an airline.
This was the risk for this airline, which needed repair parts collected from Denmark and delivered to Luton by 07:00 on 4th February. This was so the aircraft could be repaired and back in the air the same day, making the delivery window an operational requirement.
Smooth, swift transit
The urgent delivery window meant there was no buffer in the timeline, collection, transit and delivery. They all had to happen without interruption, as a single missed checkpoint would have pushed the delivery past the repair window. This would incur significant commercial consequences for airlines’s operation.
To keep the shipment on track, effective planning and communication were needed.
Visibility at every stage
Our ops team mapped the collection route, confirmed the deadline at every stage, and kept a direct line open between the driver and the client throughout. This meant nothing was left to assumption.
The parts were collected on time, with delivery confirmed at 07:00, nearly two hours ahead of the required window. This meant the plane was repaired and back in the air on schedule.
