IMI hand-carry shipment rescued with out-of-hours clearance
An IMI hand-carry movement required urgent airport document checks. The required declaration could not be submitted on arrival, because no authorised party (including on-site customs) was available at the airport to process it.
Hand-carry movements are time-sensitive and dependent on strict compliance steps. In this case:
- The document check could not start until the shipment arrived at the airport
- On arrival, the declaration could not be completed as no one was available to process it, putting the goods at risk of being held
- The shipment needed a fast resolution to maintain the timeline and avoid disruption
C4 intervened, working directly with HMRC to secure the correct submission route, enabling the goods to be declared, processed and document-checked – all out of hours on a Friday night.
Escalation, coordination, clearance
As soon as the blockage was identified, rather than waiting for third parties to respond, C4 took control of the issue. Although the standard process had failed, the experienced team were able to take ownership and problem solve under pressure.
Confident in navigating the compliance system, C4 contacted HMRC directly. The team identified the correct process, and completed the required form to ensure the goods could be formally “arrived” and entered into the system.
Once the goods were successfully arrived via the correct route, the shipment could proceed to document check without further delay or unnecessary holding time.
Quality out-of-hours service
To ensure the issue was fully resolved, the C4 team logged in on Friday evening to verify everything was correctly processed and closed off. This maintained continuity beyond standard working hours, protecting urgent timelines
C4 took ownership from start to finish. With a customer-first mindset, they provided expert compliance support, fast escalation, and top quality service.
